The protection it offers is especially strong because of a weird rules quirk: even if a board wipe destroys all creatures and all enchantments at once, Totem Armor still saves the creature

When you do get sufficient value out of him to make up for that it is because you have built to abuse one aspect and so you would have been better off with a cheaper card that only did one half of the package such as a Helm of Awakening, Medallion, Sphere of Resistance etc
