Ive mostly seen it excel as a Voltron commander where you can put all your eggs in one basket (Shun Yun) and deliver deadly commander damage to your enemies

The payoff does seem to be there though

A lot has changed between the original Kamigawa block and now not just in the planes lore, but also in the game of Magic itself

Stack up a few Yuriko triggers and massive spells on the top of your library to end the game before your opponent(s) gets to untap
