A special pre game ceremony was held with legendary Tigers announcer Ernie Harwell as emcee and the event honored Hall of Famer Al Kaline. The Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals 8 2 thanks in part to a Robert Fick grand slam that landed on the roof. After the game Harwell bid farewell to the 88 year old stadium while old film footage rolled featuring Ty Cobb Sam Crawford and other Tigers legends.
