鉄釉に、乳濁した藁灰釉が溶け込み、複雑で豊かな色彩。

大きな孟宗竹の根を刳り作られた古煎茶盆です。

上部から蓋を外して用いる形式で、箱体には余分な装飾をほとんど置かず、材の厚みと構造がそのまま表に出ています。前面には鉄金具を備え、金具の表面には錆と黒化が進み、左右には簡素な草花文が打ち出されています。
