Choughs like short, grazed grassland and coastal heathland, where they nest in crevices on rock ledges and cliff faces built from roots, stems, heather, wool, and hair. There are only small, coastal populations of choughs in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man and Cornwall.
