If youre piloting these decks, you can help out a newer player who isnt drawing into the lands or answers that they need, while a newer player whos piloting a group hug commander or wheel commander doesnt look as threatening as a very aggressive commander that cheats battlecruisers into play
There are lots of powerful synergies around these effects, and you can often get away with what looks like group hug before you pull the rug out because Magic players can be greedy
