I mean, how does it get more flavorful than that

Technically, they can evolve before the other player when its their next turn, but there are powerful cards, like Kangaskhan, that dont need to evolve

Most counterspells are blue cards, and specifically blue instants, as its what blue does best, but there are more than a few playable off-color counterspells

Brad Minnigh has also pointed out that this card is pretty strong with Final Task (draw a card, attack for 14 unblockable unbreakable blitz damage from a champion that wont break at the end of the turn to Final Task)
